Brushstrokes & Birthdays: A Mother-Daughter Celebration Inspired by Bob Ross
Some birthdays are marked with cake and candles. Others with travel and champagne. For this mother and daughter duo, a shared birthday weekend in New York City called for something a little more creative—and a lot more meaningful: a Bob Ross painting class. They were visiting all the way from Northwest Territories, Canada!!
With their birthdays just days apart they decided to celebrate another trip around the sun as mother and daughter. And what better way than to spend an afternoon recreating a peaceful Bob Ross landscape, side-by-side, in a sunlit Manhattan art studio?
The Joy of Creating Together
They laughed over wobbly tree trunks and unexpected color choices. Bob Ross’s gentle mantra echoed in the room: “We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”
Painting together created some rare uninterrupted time to talk, and explore a new experience together. There was space for creativity, laughter, and reflection. No screens. No schedules. Just brushes, color, and conversation.
Why Experiences Matter
It was a chance to take time and enjoy being together.
